, putting one seat short of taking over both house of congress. panel, stephen hayes from "weekly standard," juan williams from national public radio and syndicated columnist charles krauthammer. charles, what do you make of this? this is the second report we had this week to suggest big gains, significant gains for republican in congress. >> that is from an analysis of seat-by-seat, state-by-state. i think the number that sort of explains it overall is what is called the generic ballot, where you ask someone if you vote republican or democr democratic in november? it's at the largest spread, 10-point republican lead in the 68 years of gallup will, which means it's, at a time when reagan was a democrat. this is a very long time. this is totally unprecedented. and that portends a wave election. that's like johnson in '64. like reagan in '80. gingrich in the mid-'90s. curiously, every 15 years or so. if that number holds, that generic spread of ten, then you get this kind of wave. i think you do get the house clearly will fall to the republicans. and the senate will be close. i think sabato

of the suspects, stephen hayes, was, quote, desperate for money. according to a connecticut police detective who interviewed hayes after the murders in july 2007. the detective testified in court today that when he interviewed hayes after the suspects had been caught leaving the petit home, he noted a strong odor of gasoline coming from hayes' body. the home was allegedly set on fire by hayes and co-defendant, so it would make sense there could have been a gasoline odor on him. also hayes showed, quote, no emotion and he remembers him being pretty quiet. >> so the guy was desperate for money, that was their plan all along, just get money? >> it seems so. according to the testimony today, the two men devised a plan to, quote, break into a house, tie some people up, grab some money and get out as fast as they can. well, we know that wasn't what happened in the end. we don't know all the details of course of what happened in that house, but we do know from police that jennifer hawke-petit was sexually assaulted and strangled, that was after the mother of two kaz was captured on the bank camera as s

, but today stephen, richard and cory today your nation finally acknowledges and fully honors your father's bravery. because even though it has been 42 years, it's never too late to do the right thing. it's never too late to pay tribute to the our vietnam veterans and their families. in recent years, dick's story has become known in air force bases have honored him with streets and buildings in his name. and at the base where he train so long ago in barksdale, louisiana, there's a granite monument with an empty space next to his name, and that space can finally be etched with the words, medal of honor. the greatest memorial of all to dick etchberger is the spirit that we feel here today. the love that inspired him to serve, the love of his country, the love for his family, and most eloquent expression of that devotion are the words he wrote himself to friends back home just months before he gave his life to our nation. i hate to be away from home, he wrote, from that small base above the -- but i believe in the job. he said, it is the most challenging job i'll ever have in my life. and th

my call. good morning, stephen. the president has a lot of work to do. the previous caller stating that both parties are not responsible is ridiculous, they're both responsible and the mirror each other in so many ways. i can give you an example of the changes for health care with obama putting through that initiative. a doctor that excised something from a doctor's office for $182, the same person when to the hospital for medication because the pharmacy would not touch it, $500, two separate charges. his eyebrows went up and he said thank you for that information. the parties that are supposed to work together, that is their job. they are supposed to represent all of the people. in terms of compromise, bob dylan says that everyone loves compromise. we started to shed jobs in the 1970's starting with manufacturing. i have one word of advice for the president, it really bothers me when i hear politicians say they are the best. no one is the best. we can be the best sometimes. i cannot handle it, it bothers me a lot and i wish that he would stop saying that. as far as the money, they
